The seventh-generation 21MY Mustang marked a significant shift from traditional analog instrumentation to a fully digital cockpit. The challenge was not simply replacing physical gauges with screens—it was preserving the unmistakable Mustang character while creating a more flexible, connected and driver-focused experience.

How do you digitize an icon without losing what makes it iconic?
The Mustang has always been defined by its relationship with the driver. As the cockpit evolved toward a digital-first experience, we had an opportunity to rethink that relationship rather than simply replicate the analog experience on a screen.
The design challenge became a balance between heritage and technology, information and emotion, physical and digital interaction.

The transition to digital created new freedom, but also introduced new questions: How much information should the driver see? How should performance information be prioritized? How can different drive modes change the character of the experience?
We explored multiple visual and interaction directions, balancing information hierarchy, driver focus, performance cues and Mustang's distinctive visual language.

Designing the digital layer ofthe Mustang experience.
The digital cluster and center stack became an extension of the cockpit architecture—not separate screens added to the interior, but an integrated part of the driver's environment.
The work focused on display architecture, information hierarchy, visual language and drive-mode experiences, creating a system that could adapt to different moments while maintaining a consistent Mustang identity.

Multiple visual themes were explored to understand how the digital cluster could shift between everyday usability and a more performance-oriented experience while maintaining a consistent information hierarchy.
From design vision to production reality.
The final experience moved from concept exploration into the production Mustang, balancing the creative vision with engineering, manufacturing, technology and program requirements.
The system was developed across multiple Mustang series and interior environments, maintaining a recognizable design language while allowing each series to express its own character.
